Heat it up: How To Look Great For The SummerThe summer’s right around the corner, and that can only mean one thing:

You’re freaking out about putting on your bathing suit!

Ok, hopefully you’re one of the lucky ones that doesn’t have to worry about it, but the rest of us do, so bear with me.

Oh, and towards the end I’ll tell you about the free stuff I mentioned last week. ;)

Everyone wants to look good in a bathing suit (or less)

Even though I never have (from my perspective), I still hope to one day not jiggle too much. If you’re here, you might be thinking about that too. The good news is with some hard work and dedication, we can. Many people have proven it (like Shrinking Leon).

That’s why I’ve put together this challenge for May. Together, we’re going to accomplish what we never thought possible.

No better time than now

What a better time than now to get started? The weather is (generally) starting to get really nice, and summer is approaching (for most of us). Most people will probably start thinking about summer in a month or so, but you’re going to get a head start on them all! You’ll have twice as much time to get to your “swimming” figure.

How I plan to do it

I’ve been listening to Robb Wolf for a while, and I’ve mentioned here and there how his materials do an excellent job at explaining some of the things Tim Ferriss presents in The 4 Hour Body.

Recently he came out with an ebook called the 30 Day Total Transformation (you may have seen it in the sidebar). I love it because it’s short but still teaches you everything you need to know. I had to have it because it also tells you how and when to work out AND what and when to eat. For someone who has talked about automating fitness, it was right up my alley.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve done a terrible job at planning things myself. I just haven’t been able to stick to the plan I had. Oh, you should have seen the amazing 3 month plan I put together for a 10K my wife and I did in late-March. I think out of the whole thing we did maybe a week of training. We still completed it, but not nearly as well as we had been planning to.

So I’m creating a plan. I’ll have a calendar of the month with sections each day for my exercise goals and my food goals. Using Robb’s guide, I’ll put together my workout schedule and my meals (well, my wife and I will do that together), and each item gets a small box on my calendar. Each item that I complete in a day will get a check by it. Hopefully at the end of the week I’ll have all of the boxes checked.

Since I want you to participate as well, so we can hold each other accountable, I want to help you as much as I can. Since I like Robb’s guide so much, I’m going to make it easy for you to get one. You hardly need to think about a thing

Whether it’s what to eat or how to work out, this guide has exactly what you need to help you plan your best month of fitness yet.

  • For your food, he’s got a “matrix” of the most healthy foods broken down by proteins, veggies, and fats. To make a meal, you pick a protein, have several veggies, and some good fat, and you’re good to go.

    In addition to that, he even has an entire month of meals and recipes with their companion weekly shopping list for you to print and take to the store. You literally don’t have to do anything but shop, cook, and eat. No meal planning necessary, if you don’t want to.

  • For your exercise, he’s got another matrix of the best exercises broken down by cardio, lower body, and upper body. He talks about how to combine each one into a workout schedule. Especially if you’ve never been sure how to work out efficiently, this will help immensely.
